THE CHILEAN FRANCISCO LOPEZ CONTARDO WINS AGAIN MATTEO GRAZIANI HAS THE LEAD AGAIN AND PRECEDES COMA BY 23”

The Chilean Francisco Lopez Contardo (on Honda of the Team Chaleco Lopez) has won the fourth stage, Villanovaforru-Tortolì of km. 367, the longest and most difficult of the Rally with a special test of 132 km. An impressive stage. Three hours of special, 130 massacring kilometers in the sign of the Chilean Fransisco “Chaleco” Lopez. A very hard stage of a rally among the hardest of the last times, right what you expect from a World Trial. Not even a moment’s peace in a stage charachterised by falls, incidents, and the emotion to pass inside of the military polygon of Perdasdefogu. The stage was divided into two parts: 70 and 62 km, with the Assisane Area on the mountin of Monte Cardiga, among impossible paths, mud and stones. Many pilots were on the receiving end: Rodriguez fractured one clavicola after the crash with a wild boar, the Italian pilots Manca and Zanotti without petrol before the refuelling, Coma that in more than one occasion had to avoid the cows that grazed on the flat where great part of the tracing of contest was designed. Almost obvious problems, caused by a hard route, designed to perfection and accessible to the caravan thanks also to the exceptional control service offered by the commando of the Army. The Chilean’s victory derives from a shrewed but also brave conduct of contest in the two specials on mountains of the province of Cagliari and the Ogliastra. Lopez took the best of the of his Honda, chased by all the superchampions, and this time, from the two Italian specialists Paul Ceci, Aprilia (Team Giofil Aprilia) and the Italian champion Matteo Graziani on KTM (the Team) who reconquered the top of the ramking and dreams of his fith victory in Sardinia. A dream that seem to be reacheable. Only seventh the champion Marc Coma. The Spanish of Catalogna lost the head of the general classification, now taken by the same Graziani. Good test for Ruben Faria, fourth in front of the French David Casteu, who had problems with the Road Book, just like like Jose Pellicer. Good test for the only Sardinian pilot, Enrico well Montalbano, 14th to arrive and in the general classification where, behind Graziani, there’s Coma, only 23 seconds behind. Not very far are Casteu and Pellicer. In the Italian Champioship, Ceci wins over Graziani and Massimo Chiesa (Kawasaki), who we all rembember as the winner of the Sardegna in 1989, many years that they do not prevent him to run on the unsurfaced roads and paths with the passion of the old times.
